Dunedin’s Spookeasy Turns Historic Andrews Memorial Chapel Into a Halloween Voodoo Lounge |
The Dunedin History Museum’s Oct. 31 party blends themed food, immersive activities, costumes and local history from 6-8:30 p.m. |

Dunedin is leaning into atmosphere instead of jump scares this Halloween, using one of the city’s oldest historic buildings as the setting for a themed evening of mystery, food and local history.
The Dunedin History Museum’s annual Spookeasy Halloween Party returns Saturday, October 31, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Andrews Memorial Chapel.
This year’s theme is “Madame Laveau in the Voodoo Lounge,” inspired by the legendary New Orleans spiritual figure and designed around mystery, magic and a vintage lounge feel.
Guests can expect themed food, activities, immersive touches throughout the venue and one complimentary drink, with additional items available for purchase.
Organizers say costumes or cocktail attire both fit the evening, making this a different kind of Halloween event from a haunted house or street festival.
The venue is a major part of the story.
Andrews Memorial Chapel was built in 1888 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Carpenter Gothic building now sits at the entrance to Hammock Park after being moved and preserved by the Dunedin Historical Society.
That setting gives the Spookeasy a naturally dramatic backdrop before any Halloween decorations are added.
The chapel’s long history has also made it a familiar stop for local ghost tours and paranormal events, although the Oct. 31 Spookeasy is designed as a social Halloween party rather than a ghost investigation.
For people who like historic places, the event offers something a little more memorable than celebrating in a standard ballroom or bar.
The shorter 6-to-8:30 p.m. schedule also makes it easier to pair with dinner in downtown Dunedin or another Halloween-night plan afterward.
Andrews Memorial Chapel is located at 1899 San Mateo Drive, near Hammock Park rather than directly on Main Street, so visitors should make sure they are heading to the chapel and not the museum’s downtown building.

That location detail matters because some event listings reference the Dunedin History Museum as the organizer while the party itself is at Andrews Memorial Chapel.
The museum’s own events calendar confirms the chapel location and the October 31 time.
Because this is a museum-run themed event with food and a complimentary drink included in the experience, checking the official events page for current ticket availability and any final entry details is the best move before going.
Visitors should also plan around the fact that the chapel is a historic property. The evening is more about atmosphere, conversation and themed activities than a large-scale dance floor or high-volume concert.
That makes the Spookeasy especially appealing for adults who want to celebrate Halloween without committing to an all-night party.
The event also gives people another reason to learn about a piece of Dunedin history they may have driven past without ever entering.
The chapel has been moved more than once during its life, survived redevelopment pressure and was restored as a community landmark.
Putting a Halloween event inside that setting gives the museum a creative way to connect local history with a modern social night.
For Halloween weekend, Spookeasy stands out because the location is not just a backdrop — it is part of the experience.

Can’t go but hope someone shares pics. That chapel is gorgeous!
This sounds way more interesting than another generic bar crawl. Local stories make it so much better.
Never had any interest in voodoo themes, but I’m glad it’s more of a social thing than a jump scare fest.
As a history nerd, love that they highlight such an old building. The more events at the chapel, the better.
Just hope parking’s not a nightmare since it’s not on Main St.
Dunedin always comes up with fun stuff. We need more events like this for people our age.
Complimentary drink is a win. Are the drinks themed too? Anyone know?
I prefer this over street festivals. Inside, cozy, and not freezing by the end of the night.
Never thought of Halloween as lounge-y, but I’m into it! Might have to grab some friends and deck out in old-school glam.
Wonder if they’ll do any stories about the chapel’s ghosts. I love the local legends.
I remember last year’s event was packed. Hoping there’s more space this time.
That time slot is great if you want to do more than one thing on Halloween night.
Nice to see stuff for adults this time of year. Not just kids getting the Halloween fun.
Didn’t realize the chapel had been moved from somewhere else. Thanks for the history bit.
Love a party that lets you be creative with costumes OR nice clothes!
Is parking easy near Hammock Park? I always get turned around over there.
The chapel has such a vibe even without decorations. Took a ghost tour there once, still gives me chills.
Cool that they include a drink. Hoping for some good NOLA-inspired snacks, too.
Do you have to dress up? I only have cocktail dresses, no costumes.
Wish I still lived nearby! The museum always does a great job with events.
Glad they’re not doing another haunted house. Classier theme and still spooky. Nice choice Dunedin.
I’ve always wanted to check out Andrews Chapel. This is the perfect excuse.
Never heard of Madame Laveau before, but the voodoo lounge idea is super creative.
Appreciate the early start time! Might bring friends before we grab dinner downtown.
A Halloween party in a historic chapel sounds so cool. Love the vintage vibe instead of jump scares for once.
