Pete’s Eats Gourmet Food Truck Emporium Is Taking Shape on 66th Street in St. Pete
The new west St. Petersburg concept points to a fixed gathering place for rotating food trucks near longtime Pete’s Auto Sales

West St. Petersburg may be getting a new kind of neighborhood dining stop, and the idea is simple enough to understand before the first menu board even goes up.

Pete’s Eats Gourmet Food Truck Emporium is being promoted at 5796 66th Street North, where branding for the concept points to a dedicated gathering place built around food trucks rather than a single restaurant kitchen.

That matters because one of the biggest challenges with food trucks is often finding them.

Trucks move between breweries, markets, festivals and private events, which can make a favorite vendor hard to track down from one week to the next.

A fixed food-truck hub changes that equation.

Instead of chasing individual trucks around Pinellas County, diners could have one familiar address where different mobile kitchens rotate through and groups can choose from more than one style of food.

The name “Food Truck Emporium” suggests that variety is part of the plan, although a regular vendor lineup, public operating schedule and formal opening details were not yet publicly verifiable when Inside Tampa Bay checked.

That makes this an early look rather than a traditional restaurant review.

The location itself is interesting.

The Pete’s Eats branding lists 5796 66th Street North in St. Petersburg and the phone number 727-545-4500.

That is the same phone number used by Pete’s Auto Sales, the longtime family-owned used-car business located just north at 5796 66th Street North.

The shared contact information strongly suggests the new food-truck project is connected to the neighboring Pete’s property, giving the concept a local-business backstory before the food side is fully introduced.

For longtime residents who already recognize the Pete’s name from 66th Street, that connection could help the new venture feel familiar from day one.

It also gives a stretch of 66th Street better known for everyday retail and service businesses a chance to become a casual food destination.

The corridor is one of west St. Petersburg’s major north-south routes, which gives a food-truck gathering spot something pop-up locations often lack: a recognizable address on a road people already use every day.

If the concept develops into a rotating lineup, the appeal could extend beyond lunch.

Families and groups often like food-truck parks because everyone can order something different without splitting up, while repeat visitors have a reason to come back when the vendor mix changes.

For small food businesses, a dependable place to park can also create visibility without the expense of opening a full brick-and-mortar restaurant.

That combination could make Pete’s Eats as much a platform for local food operators as a destination for diners.

There are still practical questions that need answers before locals make firm plans.

Inside Tampa Bay has not yet independently confirmed regular hours, which food trucks will participate, whether the lineup will rotate daily or weekly, what seating will be available, or how parking and weather cancellations will be handled.

Those details are important, especially for a concept built around mobile vendors.

For now, the most interesting part is the idea itself: turn a familiar 66th Street address into a reliable place to discover different local food trucks.

If Pete’s Eats delivers on that promise, west St. Petersburg could gain the kind of relaxed, repeatable food stop that works for quick dinners, casual meetups and anyone who would rather sample several local vendors than commit to one menu.

It’s about time 66th got something cool. Tired of the same old fast food places.

I pass this stretch every morning. Wonder how traffic will be with the extra customers, though.

I hope seating is part of the plan. Standing to eat isn’t my favorite.

Pinellas finally getting a dedicated food truck hub! About time. I’m tired of driving to Tampa for these.

We need more spots like this for families. Kids are picky and like to have choices.

Not sure how I feel about food in a car lot, but I’ll give it a shot if the trucks are good.

I always lose track of my favorite taco truck. Having a spot for them to return to is genius.

Interesting that it’s connected to Pete’s Auto Sales. Makes sense with the address but I never would’ve guessed food trucks there.

Love the idea of not having to chase food trucks around town. Can’t wait to see which vendors show up!
