Clearwater’s waterfront concert calendar gets a major country show next Sunday when one of the biggest names in Red Dirt music makes its first appearance at The BayCare Sound.

Turnpike Troubadours perform Sunday, October 25, at The BayCare Sound at Coachman Park, with Muscadine Bloodline and Drayton Farley joining the bill.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m.

Turnpike Troubadours have built a national following by mixing country, Americana and honky-tonk with the storytelling style associated with the Red Dirt scene.

The Oklahoma band has released seven studio albums and has accumulated more than two billion streams across its catalog.

The Clearwater date is part of a lineup that gives the night three distinct sounds instead of a single headliner-and-opener format.

Muscadine Bloodline brings a Gulf Coast-rooted country sound, while Drayton Farley leans toward singer-songwriter material shaped by country, rock and folk.

For local fans, the venue is a big part of the appeal.

The BayCare Sound sits in Coachman Park at 255 Drew Street, with covered seating, lawn seating and a downtown waterfront setting.

The venue includes roughly 4,000 covered seats plus about 5,000 lawn seats, so the experience can vary quite a bit depending on the ticket section.

People with lawn tickets should think about comfort and weather before heading downtown.

Blankets are permitted within the venue’s size limits, but chairs are not allowed.

The show is rain or shine, and umbrellas are also prohibited, so checking the forecast before leaving home is worthwhile.

The BayCare Sound also operates under a clear-bag policy.

Permitted clear bags can be up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches, while small clutch bags are allowed within the venue’s stated size limits.

The venue is cashless, so food, drinks and other purchases require a card or mobile payment.

Local food trucks and concessions are available at events, which makes it possible to arrive early and eat inside rather than squeezing dinner in somewhere else first.

Parking is spread throughout downtown Clearwater rather than concentrated in one dedicated concert lot.

Organizers encourage carpooling, rideshare and public transportation, and downtown parking maps are available through the city.

For a Sunday evening show, arriving before doors open may be the easiest way to avoid a last-minute parking scramble.

Concertgoers should also download their mobile tickets before reaching the gate because phones serve as the ticketing system.

Re-entry is not permitted once guests enter the venue.

For Tampa Bay country fans, the October 25 show is an unusually strong bill in an outdoor setting that works especially well once the weather starts to cool.

Turnpike Troubadours, Muscadine Bloodline and Drayton Farley give Clearwater a full evening of Americana and country rather than a quick single-act concert.

If you are going, the smartest move is to check your ticket section, review the bag rules and parking options, and get downtown early enough to enjoy the waterfront before the music starts.

Turnpike is my favorite since A Long Way From Your Heart. Can’t wait to hear these songs on the water.

Never heard of Muscadine Bloodline before but Gulf Coast country sounds fun. Anyone seen them live?

Love that they’re mixing it up with different openers instead of just a single act. Never heard Drayton Farley, I’ll check him out.

Always wanted to see Turnpike live and now they’re coming right to Clearwater! Didn’t expect that. Hope it doesn’t rain.
